Isn’t it strange that all the stuff that is supposed to set us free usually enslaves us.
Booze is a great example. Originally it is the best buzz in the world. Everything is funny, you are witty, you feel all-powerful. It is amazing. But in many cases if becomes like fly paper gluing it’s lovers to seedy flea-bag hotels and shameful lives. Same with a lot of drugs and even money. All the quick-fix ego boosts will come back to bite you strong and hard. Out of balance is soon out of control. Slight tilts can really throw you. The roller coaster of addiction can knock you out of the park.
