Learning To Pretend
Check out “Learning to Pretend.” Sounds a little like Bowie in the eighties. You’ll find it on Abraham’s third CD, “Children of the Milkman” . Check out the great , Grateful Dead guitar work of John Garwood and the stellar bass and production from John Gregowski . The track is really on fire. Not sure what its about but Abraham Cloud lyrics always have some cool angles in them. Thanks to Chromex for the Groovy Slide show and remember new Cloud should be out by June 2012. Learning To Pretend by Abraham Cloud When you wake up in the morning, Can of beer in your hand, And your mouth feels like a pillow, And your head is hurting bad, When the wind comes crawling through your window, Calling you to follow it again, You might feel that your life is not your own It’s always waiting up around the bend, LEARNING TO PRETEND As you drive down crowded freeways, Bright-White-Fear fills your eyes, And you think you feel so desperate, But we all feel that way most the time. Don’t be scared of fantastic new illusions They may turn out to be your only friends, Find a groove and let it take you down the highway, You might never find that kind of groove again, LEARNING TO PRETEND And the magic of the moment just lasts an instant When you see it gotta’ grab it, Won’t be hangin ’round, Won’t be hangin’ round too long. LEARNING TO PRETEND LEARNING ALL YOUR LIFE THEN YOU’RE LEARNING ONCE AGAIN LEARNING TO PRETEND When the view you used to be so used to Gets flattened by some fat and angry men …

Clouds by Abraham Cloud
You can really hear some Lennon oozing out of this one. What a thought though. That Clouds are actually people who have died floating by. On a purely biological level it is true. Matter does not go away , it changes form and lingers. And who hasn’t found some familiar faces while cloud gazing. The song reminds me of “Imagine” by John Lennon and some other famous ‘Cloud’ songs like “Both Sides Now ” from the goddess of all music, Joni Mitchell’s classic album Clouds. “So many things I would have done , but clouds got in the way.”

The Promise of Saturday
This is the real Cloud at his Best. Alone , strung out , lonely, crazy, questioning, looking out a window and wondering why he doesn’t fit in. His only sin is the wonder why in a land that don’t like to wonder . To think in the land of the thoughtless. The Promise of Saturday is the promise of America, the promise of Japan, the promise of Russia , the promise of productivity. The Promise that if we blindly work our ass off and produce tons of stuff we will relax in our nice little tract house on Saturday sipping ice cold beer on the green green lawn. Unfortunately someone was productive enough to produce nuclear and chemical weapons which seem to change the weather a bit for Cloud. DJ pipes did the video. Check out the lyrics ….. The Promise of Saturday by Abraham Cloud Sometimes when I can’t sleep at night, I draw the shades and look outside. Rows of rooftops all exactly the same, cover people who will never change. I watch them come, and I see them go, they walk in circles and I’m sure they don’t know. ‘Cause its ice cold beer and a Sunday drive, the promise of Saturday can keep you alive. When they lay in bed at night, everything’s all right. They got a lot to do ’til Saturday. So far away. The promise of Saturday can keep you in line. I tried, but I couldn’t decide, what kind of compromise I’d make to survive. So many people window-shop for a vacation, wind up spending all their time stuck in hesitation. When they lay in bed at night, everything’s all right. They …

When You Go Down
Everyone knows it was Kesha who sang “When You Go Down,” in the Flo RIda hit RIght Round, but ten years earlier Abraham Cloud had released “When You Go Down” on his second CD. A quick listen will reveal a totally different sound and a totally different time but surprisingly enough there is another huge co-incidence. When Kesha was recording “Right Round” with Flo she was renting a room in a house on Laurel Canyon Blvd from a good friend of Abraham’s (who shall remain nameless.) And remember the original version of “You Spin Me Right Round ” was by Dead or Alive. Check out , “When You Go Down” by Abraham Cloud on this video and remember the key lyric, “I will always be the one who sticks around, when you go down.”
